BAK KUT TEH

The dish consists of pork ribs stewed with a mixture of fragrant herbs and spices such as garlic, cloves, cinnamon, star anise, fennel seeds and coriander.  This dish was introduced by Hokkien immigrants who moved to Singapore in the 19th century.

Three different ways of cooking

The first, being that of the Cantonese style, a less salty version, where they prefer to add herbs to the soup, to bring out its taste.

Bak Kut Teh is typically eaten alongside with Bak Kut Teh is typically eaten with steamed white rice, You Tiao (dough fritters), offal, preserved vegetables and braised beancurd skin. Light or dark soy sauce is used as a dip
