Char Kway Teow
Char Kway Teow
a delicious Singaporean delicacy
Char Kway Teow is a dish of Teochew origin and can be commonly found in hawker centres and food courts alike all around Singapore. The dish consists of flat rice noodles and tubular yellow wheat noodles fried in garlic, sweet soya sauce and lard, with ingredients such as egg, Chinese waxed sausage, fishcake, beansprouts and cockles. During the early 1900s, Char Kway Teow was normally served from pushcarts around Singapore. Since the introduction of hawker centres, many of these pushcart owners have relocated to these hawker centres and Char Kway Teow has now become a synonym for hawker foods.
